Since I could not post images of my heart as I was working on it, I took photos and compiled them into a video - Its a quick 1 minute watch - check it out!

On April 4th, the Parade of Hearts had their 150 United event and all the hearts were together for 1 day before they head to their summer locations! My heart is titled "The Beautiful Game" - it is based on my love of soccer and pride over the KC Current having the first stadium for women's sports, and of course, that LOVE IS LOVE.

Its been a couple weeks since I posed about the heart progress. I was hoping to be able to start to share progress pics but we still have not been given the okay. So - here's a close up shot without a lot of detail. I have 1 side 90% done and working on the 2nd side. Everyone participating at least has their heart now, so hopefully I can share more soon!

I started on my heart on Monday (11/3). However, they have asked us NOT to share our designs quite yet. :/ I have been working everyday and have made TONS of progress and taken pics along the way...only to have to wait! Gah! So in the meantime, I can share that my design is based on the KC Current and one of their special t-shirt designs. On November 1st, I drove to KC to pick up my heart sculpture. I had to rent a Uhaul to get it to Topeka as its roughly 5' by 6'! Its only about 75 pounds and made of fiberglass. After the hearts are completed, they will add weight to all the bases and place them around KC. Scroll through for some pics of the pickup process! Every other year, Kansas City has a Parade of Hearts to celebrate Kansas City and the arts. For 2026, I was selected to be one of the artists! 500 people submitted proposals so I feel very grateful and priveleged to be chosen! Follow along for progress posts as I work on this massive sculpture!
